The following women's basketball players, both with Newport News high school ties, will see action this week:

LaQuanda Younger, Old Dominion University
Position: Guard
High school: Warwick High School
This week: Thursday, Feb. 14, at Delaware
About Younger: Younger, a 5-foot-10 freshman guard for Old Dominion University, is a 2012 graduate of Warwick High School. She earned all-state honors and was a two-time Peninsula Player of the Year during her high school career. The Newport News native is the daughter of Shirley Younger.

Christina Phelps, Randolph-Macon College
Position: Forward
High school: Heritage High School
This week:
Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Shenandoah University Hornets
Saturday, Feb. 16, versus Lynchburg College
About Phelps: Phelps is a junior forward and guard for Randolph-Macon College. She is a 2010 graduate of Heritage High School in Lynchburg, where she was named Play it Smart Student Athlete of the Month and made the Seminole District All-Academic Team. Phelps is from Lynchburg.
