Menchville grad Simon contributes to Randolph-Macon victory

Menchville High School graduate Andre Simon contributed 20 points in Randolph-Macon College's 85-71 win over conference rival Eastern Mennonite University on Feb. 9 in Ashland, the Randolph-Macon College website reported.

The Randolph-Macon College junior forward also recorded two rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, who improved to 14-9 on the season and 9-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Randolph-Macon College's next game is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 on the road against Shenandoah.

Simon is a 2010 graduate of Menchville High School, where he played four seasons of basketball for coach Erick Mays. He was a two-time all-district selection on the hard court and averaged 18 points and nine rebounds in 2009-10 as a senior. He also played two seasons of football. In the classroom, Simon was a member of the National Honor Society and was an honor roll student. He intends on majoring in accounting at Randolph-Macon College. Simon is the son of Lionel and Kathryn Simon. He is from Newport News.
