Menchville grad Franklin plays in Lenoir-Rhyne loss

Menchville High School graduate Derrius Franklin played for Lenoir-Rhyne University in a 61-58 loss against conference rival Carson-Newman on Feb. 9 at Holt Fieldhouse in Jefferson City, Tenn., Lenoir-Rhyne's website reported.

The freshman guard and the Bears are 14-6 on the season and 7-5 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

Lenoir-Rhyne's next game is 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 on the road against Catawba College.

Franklin is a freshman guard for Lenoir-Rhyne University. The Newport News native is a 2012 graduate of Menchville High School.
