Robbery reported near corner of Warwick Boulevard and Old Courthouse Way

The Newport News Police Department (643012022) is investigating a recent incident involving robbery.

The incident was reported near the corner of Warwick Boulevard and Old Courthouse Way at 8:15 p.m. Feb. 1.

According to a news release from the police, "A 62-year-old Newport News man was in Mo's convenience store when a man described as 19 or 20 years old entered the store with a male friend. The victim completed his business and was going home (the victim is wheelchair bound) when the suspect, the 19 to 20 year old from the store, walked up behind him and demanded cash. The suspect reached into the victim's pockets and took his money, several hundred dollars, then fled on foot."

Police described the suspect as a black male wearing a blue jacket and a black cap with a red stripe.
