Menchville grad Simon contributes 9 points, 10 rebounds to Randolph-Macon victory

Menchville High School graduate Andre Simon contributed nine points in Randolph-Macon College's 74-39 home win over conference rival Washington and Lee University on Jan. 23 in Ashland, the Randolph-Macon College website reported.

The Randolph-Macon College junior forward also recorded 10 rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks for the Yellow Jackets, who improved to 10-8 on the season and 5-4 in conference.

Randolph-Macon College's next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at home against Roanoke College.

Simon is a 2010 graduate of Menchville High School, where he played four seasons of basketball for coach Erick Mays. He was a two-time all-district selection on the hardcourt and averaged 18 points and nine rebounds in 2009-10 as a senior. He also played two seasons of football. In the classroom, Simon was a member of the National Honor Society and was an honor roll student. He intends on majoring in accounting at Randolph-Macon College. Simon is the son of Lionel and Kathryn Simon. He is from Newport News.
