The following men's basketball players, all with Newport News North high school ties, have scheduled action this week:

Derrius Franklin, Lenoir-Rhyne University

About Franklin: Franklin is a freshman guard for Lenoir-Rhyne University.The Newport News native is a 2012 graduate of Menchville High School.

Andre Simon, Randolph-Macon College
High school: Menchville High School
This week:
Wednesday, Jan. 23, versus Washington and Lee University
Saturday, Jan. 26, versus Roanoke College
About Simon: Simon is a 2010 graduate of Menchville High School, where he played four seasons of basketball for coach Erick Mays. He was a two-time all-district selection on the hardcourt and averaged 18 points and nine rebounds in 2009-10 as a senior. He also played two seasons of football. In the classroom, Simon was a member of the National Honor Society and was an honor roll student. He intends on majoring in accounting at Randolph-Macon College. Simon is the son of Lionel and Kathryn Simon. He is from Newport News.

Chris Teasley, Virginia Wesleyan College

About Teasley: Teasley is a senior guard for Virginia Wesleyan College. He is a 2009 graduate of Menchville High School in Newport News, where he was a second team All-Peninsula District honoree and was selected to compete in the Senior All-Star Game. The psychology major is from Newport News and is the son of Christopher and Joan Teasley.
