Menchville grad Simon contributes to Randolph-Macon victory over Gettysburg

Menchville High School graduate Andre Simon contributed eight points in Randolph-Macon College's 58-40 home win over Gettysburg College on Jan. 2 in Ashland, the Randolph-Macon College website reported.

The Randolph-Macon College junior forward also recorded seven rebounds, one assist and a block for the Yellowjackets, who improved to 7-5 on the season.

Randolph-Macon College's next game is at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 against Randolph.

Simon is a 2010 graduate of Menchville High School, where he played four seasons of basketball for coach Erick Mays. He was a two-time all-district selection on the hardcourt and averaged 18 points and nine rebounds in 2009-10 as a senior. He also played two seasons of football. In the classroom, Simon was a member of the National Honor Society and was an honor roll student. He intends on majoring in accounting at Randolph-Macon College. Simon is the son of Lionel and Kathryn Simon. He is from Newport News.
