Newport News arrests, Jan. 19

The Newport News Police Department and Sheriff's Office reported the following incidents on Jan. 19.

Tobias L. Powell, 26, was arrested on charges of possession or use of drugs at 10:09 p.m. 24th Street.

Melvin M. Newby, 25, was arrested on charges of domestic assault at 2 p.m. Roanoke Avenue.

Terrelle D. Boykins, 19, was arrested on charges of strangulation of another at 6:52 p.m. Manor Road.

Folberth III Edward, 20, was arrested on charges of pick pocketing of value in excess of $200 at 7:35 p.m. Jefferson Avenue.
